Heggenhougen co-edits several public health volumes

Kris Heggenhougen, Lecturer on Social Medicine and former Associate Professor who co-led the Carnegie Foundation-sponsored fellowship program for east African physicians and social scientists to obtain advanced training in medical anthropology, reports several recent publications. With former Carnegie Fellow, Japhet Killewo as the editor in chief, Kris and S. Quah co-edited the volume, Epidemiology and Demography in Public Health (Academic Press/Elsevier, pp 492, ISBN:978-0-12-382200-0) which just came out a few weeks ago. Vikram Patel was editor in chief, of another volume that Kris co-edited: Mental and Neurological Public Health, A Global Perspective (Academic Press/Elsevier, Oxford, UK, 2010, pp 560, ISBN 13: 978-0-12-381526-2). Vikram is a colleague of Arthur Kleinman and Byron and Mary-Jo Good and former faculty member Alex Cohen is now working with him in London.

Professor Heggenhougen has also co-edited: Health Systems--Policy, Finance and Organization (Academic Press/Elsevier, Oxford, UK, 2009, pp 464, ISBN 978-0-12-375087-7) and Public Health and Infectious Diseases (Academic Press/Elsevier, Oxford, UK, 2010, pp 512, ISBN 13:978-0-12-381506-4). He is editor in chief of International Encyclopedia of Public Health (Oxford: Elsevier Press, 2008, 6 volumes, pp 4483, ISBN: 978-0-12-227225-7) and co-editor of the forthcoming Sexual and Reproductive Health, A Public Health Perspective (Academic Press/Elsevier, pp 368, ISBN 978-0-12-385009-6).
