Dr. Mitnick graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester in 1988 with a B.A. in political science and French. She spent 1986-1987 in Paris, France, studying at L’Institut d’Etudes Politiques and L’Université de Paris IV. In 1996, she received a masters in international health epidemiology and ecology from the Harvard School of Public Health, and in 2001 she completed a doctor of science degree in international health epidemiology and ecology, also at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Assistant Professor of Surgery; Assistant Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine
Dr. Gita Mody’s research efforts are focused in improving access to and quality of thoracic surgical care domestically and globally. She has extensive experience in researching and practicing in low resource settings around the globe. Also, as a member of the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change, Dr. Mody contributes to teaching pre-doctoral and post-doctoral global surgery trainees at Harvard. She is also serving as a faculty mentor for students and residents engaged in global surgery research in India.
Dr. Montello is assistant professor in the history and philosophy of medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She teaches narrative methods in clinical ethics and mentors Harvard trainees and students on narrative methods, medical humanities, and literature and medicine. She participates in the Division of Medical Ethics and in the Brigham and Women's Hospital Residency Program in Primary Care and Population Health.
