Andrew Lee Ellner, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr. Ellner is founder and CEO of Firefly Health. Prior to co-founding Firefly, Andy was a practicing primary care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as the Founding Co-Director of the Center for Primary Care at Harvard Medical School. His work focuses on health systems improvements for vulnerable populations. He previously served as the Clinical Policy Director of the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative's Rural Initiative and managed the Academic Consortium of the World Health Organization's Maximizing Positive Synergies initiative, a fifteen-institution collaborative research project that studied the interactions between the major, disease-specific Global Health Initiatives (Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and TB; President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) and the health systems of low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Ellner also serves on the faculty of the Global Health Delivery project (GHD), a collaborative between Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Business School, and the Harvard School of Public Health, that focuses on understanding and improving healthcare delivery in resource poor settings.
