Rashi Jhunjhunwala was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, USA  and is currently in general surgery residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.  During medical school, she earned a Master of Arts in Bioethics & Society at King’s College London in which she studied ethical justifications for prioritizing surgery on the path to universal health coverage.  Dr Jhunjhunwala has spent two years working with the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change at Harvard Medical School on projects including the economic and demographic impact of gun violence, trauma systems research, national surgical systems planning, and anti-racism education.  She currently serves as Chief Fellow at the Program where she focuses on issues of global health ethics, national surgical planning, and social justice in global surgical access. She plans to continue her work in global surgery as a Trauma surgeon and advocate for health equity.
