Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology

Thomas Randall is a gynecologic oncologist with an academic focus on limiting the burdens of care on women with gynecologic cancers domestically and on combating the overwhelming burdens of death and disability from gynecologic cancers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He has had extensive experience in the clinical management of gynecologic cancers, gynecologic cancer clinical trials and quality improvement in cancer care and surgery. He has collaborated on multiple outcomes studies in gynecologic cancers including two R01 funded investigations of disparities and quality of care in endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. From 2013 to 2017 he worked for the NCI Center for Global Health as an expert in cervical cancer, HPV associated disease, and global surgery. This work focused at a policy level on the delivery of cervical cancer care, patterns of surgical care, and novel strategies in screening for HPV related malignancies in resource-limited settings. This included significant in-country consulting time spent in Uganda and Rwanda. Dr. Randall has now returned to active clinical practice as a gynecologic oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has ongoing research projects in cervical cancer prevention and treatment in Uganda, Rwanda, and South Africa. He is co-Chair of the Global Curriculum Program through which the International Gynecologic Cancer Society is organizing and supporting Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship training in LMICs. As an affiliate faculty for the Harvard Medical School’s Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, he is an active member of the Program in Global Noncommunicable Disease and Social Change. He also works as an advisor for Partners in Health with a focus on cervical cancer control and building in surgical oncology capacity.

Dr. Randall has extensive experience gynecologic cancer clinical trials and quality improvement in cancer care and surgery. He has collaborated on multiple outcomes studies in gynecologic cancers including two R01 funded investigations of disparities and quality of care in endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer.
