Farmer and colleagues write on Haiti after the earthquake

Haiti after the Earthquake is Paul Farmer's report on the disaster of the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Port-au-Prince. In this vivid narrative, Farmer describes the incredible suffering--and resilience--that he encountered in Haiti. Having worked in the country for nearly thirty years, he skillfully explores the social issues that made Haiti so vulnerable to the earthquake--the very issues that make it an “unnatural disaster.” Complementing his account are stories from other doctors, volunteers, and earthquake survivors. The book is attracting national attention and Dr. Farmer has discussed it on the National Public Radio show Fresh Air and on The Charlie Rose Show. See the Boston Globe story, "Farmer outlines the before and after of Haiti's 'acute-on-chronic' earthquake," which links to further stories about this book.
