Arlene Michele Katz, EdD

Lecturer on Global Health and Social Medicine

Dr. Katz is a lecturer in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine and teaches cross-cultural care in the residency program, Department of Medicine, Cambridge Health Alliance. Dr. Katz is interested in mental health in primary care, the moral dimensions of care, social suffering, accompaniment, care giving, and the experience of illness, social poetics, and narratives of clinical care, the ethics of informed consent, and hearing the voices of the community in care, research, and environment.

Her main research interests include the culture of medicine, qualitative methods in multicultural mental health, disparities in vulnerable populations, newborn health and social change, and ageism and stereotyping.
