Phillip Hsu, MD, PhD

Visiting Fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine

Phil is a PGSSC fellow, HBNU Fogarty Fellow, and general surgery resident at the University of Michigan. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, where he used his research training to facilitate healthcare utilization among underserved immigrant populations. He is passionate about increasing access to surgical care in resource-limited settings through quality improvement and education. He is working with Drs. Robert Riviello, Edmond Ntaganda, Barnabas Alayande, and Robin Petroze to train District Hospital physicians in Rwanda to diagnose children with congenital conditions and safely transfer them for surgical care.
