Specific objectives of the Program in Global Family Care for the Elderly and Social Change include:

  • Engaging leaders of innovative programs that support or enhance family care for elders to seek best practice models and interventions at individual, family, community, and policy levels
  • Facilitating global exchange among researchers and social thinkers across academic disciplines in creating and evaluating organizational, technological, and humanistic approaches to family care
  • Training health care professionals and students to improve cognitive and communication skills with patients and family members to support family-based or family-centered care
  • Identifying and developing evidence-based implementation models for the development of workforces needed to strengthen family care for the elderly in Asian societies
