A trip to Ethiopia to adopt her son and a strong desire to contribute to global human equity brought Susan to a career change from early childhood education to the nonprofit world focused on human dignity, equity, and sustainable humanitarian aid.
She earned a Graduate Certificate focused on Sustainable Aid Delivery at UMass Boston’s, CRSCAD (Center For Rebuilding Sustainable Communities after Disaster).
Soon after, she began working for Wide Horizons for Children, an agency providing humanitarian aid to children and families in 10 countries. Over the course of her six years there, she contributed to aid program administration, fundraising and development, major event planning, and marketing and engagement.
Susan then joined the NCDI Poverty Network and the Center for Integration Science in Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in January 2022 and held the positions Membership and Engagement Project Coordinator and Senior Coordinator for Advancement.
Susan will continue apply her background and skill here on the team at HMS GHSE, toward advancing human equity on all fronts. She is especially thrilled to be a part of this team, the Paul Farmer Collaborative and the Department as a whole.
