Anne Becker Named Dean for Clinical and Academic Affairs

On April 1, 2020, Anne Becker, MD, PhD, the Maude and Lillian Presley Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine in the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School, will be the new dean for clinical and academic affairs at HMS. In her new role, Dr. Becker will provide senior leadership for the academic welfare of HMS as well as for the offices comprising clinical and academic affairs and academic research integrity. She will oversee academic activities, recruitment, faculty development and the academic and career advancement of our diverse faculty. Dr. Becker will have primary responsibility for many of the School’s most important initiatives, programs, centers and institutes, and will manage the partnerships and agreements between HMS and its affiliated hospitals and research institutions, including conducting clinical department reviews. In addition to serving as a key strategic partner to Dean George Q. Daley, Anne will coordinate the selection process for limited-competition funding opportunities through HMS Foundation Funds and, in collaboration with the Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership, will support efforts that advance diversity programs and initiatives.
