No Woman, No Cry to be presented on April 5

The Harvard Medical School (HMS) Department of Global Health and Social Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Global Health present No Woman, No Cry, a documentary film by Christy Turlington Burns, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the HMS Joseph B. Martin Conference Center, New Research Building, 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Boston. The film explores the risks of giving birth without adequate care in four parts of the world, including: a remote Maasai tribe in Tanzania, a slum of Bangladesh, a post-abortion care ward in Guatemala, and a prenatal clinic in the United States. A panel discussion will follow, featuring:

  • Christy Turlington Burns, Global Maternal Health Advocate and Film Director, Founder, Every Mother Counts
  • Annekathryn Goodman, MD, Director, Gynecology Oncology Fellowship Program at MGH and Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at HMS
  • Sarah Marsh, MPH, Nurse Midwife, former Women’s Health Coordinator Haiti for Partners In Health

Sadath Sayeed, MD, JD, Director, Program in Newborn Health and Social Change, Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at HMS and Neonatologist at Children’s Hospital Boston, will moderate the discussion.
